Simple business model with an exquisite sandwich. You know your food will be great when a restaurant does one thing. The focus is directed to making sure that one thing is done to the highest standard. That’s what you get at Mike’s. FYI this establishment is cash only.

Sometimes simple can be better. And Mike's Famous Ham House proves the point. There are only four items on the menu and all are excellent. It is the best place in the Detroit area for a ham sandwich. The ham is very juicy and flavorful, the sandwich is thick and served on a soft roll with or without a slice of cheese. The soups are made in house using meat pieces and bones from their hams. It is always a difficult decision whether tho have the bean or pea soup with the sandwich as both soups are excellent. For someone who wants the best ham sandwich in the southeastern Michigan area without or without a bowl of soup, I most highly recommend Mike’s Famous Ham Place.

Quirky. The ham is delicious, but that's pretty much all they have.

Love Mike's been going there since 73 the first time I went with my dad a police officer and I was hooked you if you haven't tried it you must it's a Detroit Institution you won't be let down I guarantee

Visited this place after seeing Sean Ley"s story on WDIV. OMG what a ham sandwich. You really get your money's worth. What a Detroit gem off of the beaten path of downtown.

Keeping it simple is the key to success! Mike knows how to make a mean ham sandwich and great bean or split pea soup to go with. Come hungry, portions are healthy!

I've been going to Mike's off and on for over 40 yrs. Best soup and best ham sandwiches in this hemisphere. Bean and split pea soup with big hunks of ham floating around in there. Check it out.

My co workers love these sandwiches. I dont eat ham but I buy them .The ham sandwiches are large .cost 7 bucks with egg . I really hate that they dont have an ATM or take credit cards. But the guy and lady their are nice and welcoming. Just remember to bring cash

Good food great service

Delicious. A hidden jem right on Michigan Avenue. Breakfast and lunch are amazing and fill you up! Choices of soup each day and all are homemade and tasty. Food is best when you eat in as it’s fresh and hot. Take away is piled high and great for later. Cash only but there is an atm nearby.

Dynamite place!! It is truly famous. This is the kind of place you eat and then tell everyone you know. The pea soup and ham just can't be improved upon. Wish I could eat there every day but I live 200 miles from here!!

Excellent as always. Split pea soup, piping hot--The best. Followed by half a ham sandwich with leftover ham for later snacks. Owners are friendly and great.

My late grandfather often took me here as a wee child. Simply the best ham sandwich in town. I hate to say it I've never tried the bean and ham soup (which I'm sure is absolutely amazing) because I just can't get enough of the split pea soup which really is the highlight of every visit. This place will always be attached to those fond childhood memories of hanging with gramps and that itself warrants a 5 star.

I’ve been coming to this place for years and hits the spot on any day in any weather But especially when it’s cold the split pea soup it Awesome and have huge pieces of ham in it they serve bean soup too but I love the pea one ( the bean is good too) the sandwiches are Amazing and come in 2 sizes regular and large this sandwich is the regular which was more than enough!! Sandwiches can be shared (but I recommend just saved the other half you will regret sharing lol) Prices are very reasonable and worth it!!!

Always excellent and friendly. Good COVID protocol. Hours have changed to an 8am opening, but they were willing to serve at 7:30 when I walked up to the door. One of many reasons I love family owned businesses!

Great ham sandwich

This is one of my favorite restaurants here in Detroit. Obviously I stopped in often for a ham sandwich. I have not yet had the opportunity to try their breakfast meals but absolutely positive they will be divine.

A true Detroit legend, I've been coming here since the mid 70's when my dad would bring me here after the Tigers game. It was amazing then, and it's just as amazing now. Incredible breakfast, soups and sandwiches. All featuring a huge portion of succulent ham. Great stuff!

World's best ham sandwich and best split pea and bean soup anywhere.

This no frills Detroit classic is not to be missed. The ham has truly been perfected in the 43 years that they have been open. And seriously, don't miss the pea soup.
